Prove-ups in divorce

I recently proved up a divorce for a nice client.

A “prove up” is done when both sides agree on the terms of the divorce, but the judge requires one of the parties to present basic testimony to meet the legal requirements for a divorce. It takes five minutes or so to present the testimony and then the judge may ask some questions and will usually sign the divorce decree.
